We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Behavior Coach to support the development, well-being, and learning of students in our local schools. This role combines direct work with children, guidance for teachers, and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary
team to foster a positive and supportive educational environment.
Role Overview:
The Behavior Coach assesses student needs, provides therapeutic support, and coaches teachers in implementing effective behavioral strategies. The role involves working directly with students, advising staff, and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team
to ensure every child can thrive.
Competencies
The EC2 Behavior Coach is a reliable and self-motivated professional, who is able to:
- think and work out-of-the-box;
- assess psychological needs and strengths of students in the school environment;
- provide therapeutic services to students making use of strengths;
- counsel students with conduct disorders and anger management problems;
- advise and give guidance to teachers based on the psycho-educational needs of the students;
- function in a multi-disciplinary team;
- plan, implement and report on actions;
- teach life skills;
- facilitate presentations for students, parents and teachers on related topics.
Planning tasks
- Assesses the individual needs of children and youngsters in the local schools in the field of behavior, well-being, cognitive ability and development;
- Prepares guidance and development plans for the students;
- Assists teachers and care coordinators in making individual education plans.
Guidance tasks
- Gives guidance to children with special behavior or developmental needs in the classroom and in the EC2 room;
- Presents information, demonstrates and teaches behavior modification skills to teachers and teacher assistants;
- Coaches teachers in the classroom;
- Makes house calls and works with the Jump Start parenting program.
Communication skills
- Is eager and able to work in a team;
- Knows how to work with professionals;
- Maintains regular contact with teachers, parents and colleagues;
- Creates a safe and positive learning environment for children;
- Gives constructive feedback;
- Able to monitor and report on progress verbally and in writing;
- Makes observations and uses modern technology to teach new skills to teachers.
