Curriculum Manager Required for the Diploma Programme Development Department 1 fulltime and 1 part-time, 32 hrs a week position Location: The Hague Group 6 (The Arts) for Theatre, Dance, Visual, Arts, Film, Theatre and Music The two positions in the Diploma Programme development department as curriculum managers in group 6 – the arts, are to lead and manage the development of two or more subjects within the group and arise due to the reorganisation of current subject allocations and the creation of a new post. The post holders will be responsible for a combination of subjects – from dance, visual arts, film, theatre or music. The ability to offer additional subjects from group 3 – individuals and societies would be an advantage. The Diploma Programme (16-19 age range) is designed as an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepares students for success at university and life beyond. The programme is normally taught over two years. IB Diploma Programme students study six courses at higher level or standard level chosen from each of groups 1 to 5 to provide breadth of experience in languages, social studies, the experimental sciences and mathematics. The sixth subject may be an arts subject chosen from group 6, or the student may choose another subject from groups 1 to 5. Curriculum Managers are responsible for leading and managing curriculum research, review and development for a number of subjects, producing the subject guides, teacher support material and professional development materials for educators. Within the DP curriculum department, the post holder will work closely with a team of curriculum managers, led by the curriculum area head. The successful candidate will also liaise regularly with staff in other IB departments, including assessment, publications and professional development. The responsibilities also include working with external stakeholders such as teams of teachers, examiners, and consultants. Start date From 1st July 2012. Main requirements • A qualification at degree level in a relevant subject area • Significant experience in teaching one or more related subjects at the 16-19 age range in any environment, IB or otherwise. • Experience in curriculum design and development and/or educational research • An understanding of current developments and trends in education • Excellent organizational and analytical skills • Excellent communication skills in English, and the ability to communicate in another language is a advantage • Accuracy and meticulous attention to detail • An ability to work in teams with internal and external stakeholders in face to face and electronic collaborative environments • Experience of using relevant IT packages including the ability to use a variety of desktop applications • Ability to prioritize work over diverse timelines and meet tight deadlines • Some travel and weekend work can be involved
An international hire package will be available to assist a successful candidate to relocate to the Netherlands. The position will involve some international travel.
